Michael Holding (mh / em.ash) is an abstract painter who lives in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, he earned his degree in Fine Arts and Cultural Studies from York University in 2003.
Michael began painting as a way to unplug from his screen-heavy, everyday world. Through the use of bold colours, textures, and contrast he explores his relationship with, and perception of, the dream state, memories, systems, chaos and the natural world.
